Gargi Vyas
Running in circles, falling into a spiral
Out of breath
Need to stop running
Legs can’t hold anymore
The weight of my crimes
Against myself.
Feet scraping against the dust
Like the muffled cry of a shushed heart
The centre beckons
Like a wolf in sheep’s clothing
This spiral is magnetic, nerve wrecking
All this time, I thought
Running in circles, I will never get anywhere
But now I see a destination
Somewhere the heart will refuse to speak.
Out of breath
Need to stop running
Legs can’t hold anymore
The weight of my crimes
Against myself.
Feet scraping against the dust
Like the muffled cry of a shushed heart
The centre beckons
Like a wolf in sheep’s clothing
This spiral is magnetic, nerve wrecking
All this time, I thought
Running in circles, I will never get anywhere
But now I see a destination
Somewhere the heart will refuse to speak.
