Mercy Dela Merced
A world of relative morality
Placing faith in the theory of relativity
Each one playing God
But the grin a mere facade
Addicted to greed and power
Ever wanting but not fully willing to live simpler and slower
Controlling others with invisible walls and expectations
When not met are signs of shameful limitations
Loneliness is a dark cloud of forgetfulness
Filling the soul with emptiness
Lose sight of love's reality
As gloom creeps in through heart's frailty
Be vulnerable they say
To let love grow and stay
But that's easier said than done
When your inner light is gone
Come on, help me stop the frowns
Rescue this bully who knows nothing but putdowns
My one and only enemy
The one within me
Stop collecting life's lemons
Get up and fight back the demons
Every single day if you must
Touch a life before you turn back into dust
With sacrificial love we can revolutionize
But each must first learn to meaningfully apologize
Own up to being a part of the problem for all make mistakes
Then move on to solutions instead of burning people at stakes
See in others beauty transcending the physical
Being alive is in and of itself quite a miracle
We are each other's gift
To treasure and uplift
Let them know the truth of our scars
That hope is not that sparse
The sun still shines all through the night
We need not let darkness give us a fright
Paint the world with heartfelt emotions
Don't numb the various sensations
Every breath is worth the reasons you rise
Wake up, don't miss the beautiful sunrise
Placing faith in the theory of relativity
